We, the Ing. Sumetzberger GmbH, were founded by Johann Kraliczek in 1921 as an electrical contractor. During the course of the initial years this was a single-proprietor company and actively participated in the electrification of the region. Our first business location in Kölblgasse 9 in the third district of Vienna is still run as a specialised electrical shop.
In 1958 Kraliczek’s nephew, engineer Walter Sumetzberger, took over the company and its seven employees. From then on quality, know-how, and innovations defined our development. Committed to progress from the very beginning, we have dedicated ourselves to and pioneered in trend-setting areas.
Electro-acoustics
Whether at lakeside festivals, the Pope’s visit, or the Universiade – Sumetzberger’s sound systems have delivered the best sound to every major event of any kind and any size. In 1990, we have formally taken into operation the first fully digital mixing control desk at the Vienna State Opera.
Electrical engineering
Many years of practice have brought us experience and competence. Therefore, we routinely execute such large-scale industrial projects as the MAGNA plant in Graz on the one hand, while dedicating ourselves to new challenges on the other.
Pneumatic tube systems
We have been active in the pneumatic tube systems sector since 1964. In 1983 we began with the serial manufacturing of our own pneumatic tube systems. Today, we are one of the leading manufacturers with 35 sales representations worldwide. We secure our leading market position with sustained new developments, patents, and solutions.
Conveyor technology
One of Sumetzberger’s further main pillars is conveyor technology. Whether fully automatic transport robots or rail conveyor systems for transporting small containers – we deliver the perfect transport solution for every sector.
In 1992 we have taken into operation a trackless floor conveyor system in Vienna’s SMZOST hospital, which remains the largest in Europe even today.

Security technology
In the area of security technology we offer integrated security systems with in-house switchboards that can accommodate fire detection systems, CO2 alarm systems, access control and time recording as well as alarm technology.
Networking technology
We consider the network technology – one of the younger sectors – a commercial niche with a bright future.

Today, Sumetzberger is successfully managed by the next generation, by engineer Wolfgang Sumetzberger. We are still committed to controlled growth and will continue expanding our leading position profitably in the future with sophisticated innovations and clever investments.
